Rashid Khalidi es catedrático Edward Said de Estudios Árabes en la Universidad de Columbia y director de The Journal of Palestine Studies.
Anteriormente, Khalidi fue presidente de la Asociación de Estudios sobre Oriente Medio y asesor de la delegación palestina en las negociaciones de paz árabe-israelíes de Madrid y Washington desde octubre de 1991 hasta junio de 1993.
Entre sus libros figuran Sowing Crisis: American Dominance and the Cold War in the Middle East; The Iron Cage: The Story of the Palestinian Struggle for Statehood; Resurrecting Empire: Western Footprints and America's Perilous Path in the Middle East, que recibió el Premio Albert Hourani de la Asociación de Estudios de Oriente Medio; y Palestinian Identity: The Construction of Modern National Consciousness, que también obtuvo el premio Albert Hourani.
